CHARACTERS IN-GAME: N/A

CHARACTER
NAME: Lucifer
CANON: Ao no Exorcist
CANON POINT: manga, ch 113
AGE: ??? Looks about I'd say early to mid twenties
BACKGROUND:
Unlike most descriptions of demons, AnE's demons are a little different. Demons are less horns-tails-and-pitchforks and more of "concepts" that gained sentience. Over time, these demons began to incarnate. Weaker demons can get by with possessing things like plants and ash but the stronger ones, the ones on the top of the food chain referred to as the Ba'al (read: Lucifer's brothers and sister) tend to degrade their bodies over time and faster than most bodies can stand. Lucifer's in particular lasts at the maximum, ten years back in the early days due to him being on the very top of that power chain. The thought of losing his body, having grown addicted to there mere concept of "existing" was what led him to let out his frustration on humanity. There was war, flood, plagues… basically a kid venting his frustrations on a pile of ants with a magnifying glass. But some of this kid's brothers decided that the ants needed to learn how to fight back. Thus was founded the Order of the True Cross under Mephisto's hand. At some point, Lucifer decided that he wanted to return all to nothing in the name of 'Equality'. Basically, he'd grown so frustrated of the fact that he was suffering and his body was degrading to the point where he had to wear a mask at all times that he wanted to Thanos Snap everything. No humans, no demons, everyone would be back to being a concept. Of course, Mephisto, being the "sane" one of the group proposed they look into cloning.

Cue several years and several hundred thousand failed clone children later, Lucy gets impatient with the lack of development with this cloning business so the Order had to look into something else. The next step: Elixirs. The idea was to reverse engineer demon cell regeneration and try to create a breed of super human whose bodies could manage to regenerate at the rate a demon king needed them to.

This all went belly up and Satan ended up possessing one of the bodies. Chaos ensued, plot was driven and shit hit the fan in an event the Order therefore referred to as The Blue Night. Lucifer was so degraded that he made jerky look good at this point and he threatened to Thanos Snap the world again. Mephisto put a stop to this by quite literally dive bombing him with an old lady that held the power to seal him/counter-thanos snap him with power borrowed from the God of Creation, Shemihaza.

There is no further data between this and canon's present timeline since the events of the Blue Night had just been revealed in current canon (And when I say current, I mean Ongoing Arc current.). What we do know is that somewhere between that point and current canon, Lucifer had managed to regain the Order's files on elixirs, form the Illuminati (yes, that Illuminati), gather some hardcore fans and successfully clone himself a batch of spare bodies. Experimentation continues but not to find himself a body. This time, it's to make one capable of holding Satan.

PERSONALITY:
Lucifer is shown to be nothing like his siblings. Unlike Rin and Satan who are prone to violent self expression and Mephisto who has a taste for the bombastic, Lucifer carries himself with a refined air and isn't as impulsive or driven by his emotions. He's more polite than his father and Rin certainly are, actually apologizing for having had to make such a sudden entrance when he first made himself known to all the branches of the Order. He is also seen treating his subordinates in the Illuminati with respect, thanking them for their service and asking permission before sharing their table during lunch, despite his position as their high commander. Even on the verge of punishing someone, his expression never breaks. Lucifer also isn't one for rash decisions, everything he's ever done being carefully thought through or on what he deems to be the more logical side of the equation. He also has a taste for the finer things: sporting a smart uniform when he isn't in his chambers, the interior of the Illuminati's flying fortress done with high ceilings and having a grand throne room, oysters for lunch... It's this level of sophistication coupled with his blindingly good looks that can make Lucifer turn heads. Maybe it's all that along with a demon's natural allure that has garnered him so many devout followers. The Illuminati has scouted many members and all of which that have been shown seem to admire Lucifer to a degree, regarding him with awe upon seeing him (there are screes comparable to an idol making a public appearance and his being called beautiful upon first glance) and showing sympathy to The Cause.

The Cause is everything, after all; to "fill the world with gentle light, in which humans and demons can live in peace". A considerate goal on the surface, yes. Kind, even. In his eyes, he wants nothing more than equality between humans and demons who have to suffer just to survive. It's in his method of execution that would cause anyone to double take and see just how cruel this goal actually is. I had mentioned Thanos Snapping earlier and that, in a nutshell, is what Lucifer believes is what will cause equality between humans and demons: turning everything into nothing by dispelling all the energy he has and making himself into some kind of infernal nuke. There is also no room for error, no matter your level of devotion to him or to The Cause. "We, the Illuminati, do not pardon those who seek to inhibit the success of our goal". A researcher who worked closely alongside Lucifer himself was executed brutally through Lucifer's own internal combustion abilities, just for disobeying orders. Despite that pretty face, there is a rather deep level of ruthlessness in which he's willing to get rid of anyone who hinders The Cause. All this, born from years of living in constant pain from bodies that frequently degrade due to his power. In a way, this also makes him petty and idealistic. Petty for wanting to bring about this twisted idea of equality and idealistic for thinking he can make it happen. One could argue that this is brought about by a combination of Lucifer being somewhat sheltered due to having a body so frail that he likely couldn't get out much before the Illuminati finally figured out the whole sustainable-body-and-elixir combo.

Despite all this (or perhaps because of all this) there is probably only one person in the entirety of the Illuminati that Lucifer is seen to be able to rely on: Homare Todo, the head of his bodyguard squad, Phosphorus. He seems to be able to place a measure of trust in her, letting her call the shots in his stead and is rarely seen without her. Other than that, he doesn't seem to show any other personal relations within the Illuminati save for one exception: his younger brother, Egyn. Egyn is one of the Ba'al and runs around in a Shark kigurumi. He treats Lucifer with a certain familiarity, clinging to his leg the way a shy child would upon being introduced to Yukio and strangely enough, Lucifer allows this. Egyn seems to be the only one of the demon kings in which Lucifer still has any sort of trust in seeing as the other two (Iblis and Astaroth) who sided with him haven't been seen since the Blue Night. He also holds his father Satan to some high esteem, offering Egyn, Iblis or Astaroth as his father's attendants in his place (seeing that he was nothing but a near-skeletal husk at the time.)

Apart from that, he isn't close to any of his "family" (this term used rather loosely). He and Mephisto are on opposite sides of the "let's nuke humanity" debate, after all. He doesn't seem to mind his other siblings, the only other one he ever regarded being Amaimon who was just as bad a state he was in during the time. As for the Okumura twins, he doesn't care much for Rin though he respects the protection his father had placed on the two of them. (His daddy issues run deeply in the other direction than Rin's, clearly.) but Yukio however is another story. He pushed himself to meet his youngest brother personally if only to try and bring him to the Illuminati, seeing potential in him or rather, sensing their father in him. Unfortunately, this proved to be not the best idea in the end.

POWERS/ABILITIES:
Lucifer said to be the strongest among the Ba'al, second only to Satan, their father. The Ba'al (the collective term for the Satans pure-demon kiddos) all have unique "kingdoms" which give them command over particular elements/ideas and a certain breed of demons. Lucifer is the King of Light which gives him control over the intensity of light in terms of both heat and brightness. There are no lasers involved in this process. He's shown to be able to increase something's internal temperature just by focusing on the object or person to the point of spontaneous combustion. Given how broken this is, I'm going to be capping his heat powers to small items (such as the thing he was doing with the feathers from the TDM) and allowing him to emit a slight glow, the strongest being the amount of light given off by a laptop in a dark room. The greater the intensity of heat and light, the more chroma needed. He could also likely raise someone's internal temperature but only to the level of a light fever. He's also capable of short distance teleportation (given the limitations of his body in canon) appearing in a flash of blinding light. This limit is going to be kept in-game, the light being just as blinding (like a flash bomb going off) and short distance shall be defined as within the limit of whatever city he's in at the moment but use will require a LARGE amount of Chroma the further away he wants to teleport.

Every demon king can summon their kin of lesser demons as well. Lucifer's are called Seraphim and appear in large birdlike forms made of pure light. But they're more like exploding voicemails. Lucifer can summon multiple and have them appear in different places as well as speak through them. When he's done with them, they detonate along with blinding light. I've chosen to limit his summoning to one at a time and only to the size of a budgie. It can glow and its explosion only has the intensity of a tiny firecracker.
